Advancing Obesity Prevention in Europe with Personalized Digital Solutions
The HealthyW8 project aims to improve the effectiveness of obesity prevention initiatives in Europe by developing a digital-based healthy lifestyle recommender system. It will tailor interventions to individual needs and preferences, considering diet, physical activity, and psycho-emotional aspects. The project will focus on pivotal stages in individuals' lives where the risk of obesity is high, such as primary schoolchildren, young adults, and the elderly. By incorporating innovative features like bio-marker assessment, eHealth interventions, mood/psychological aspects, and gamification, HealthyW8 surpasses current approaches.
The project involves a consortium of 24 partners and draws on transdisciplinary research. It aims to benefit primary target groups and stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, educators, food industries, policy makers, and citizens. The project predicts reaching millions of people, with potential health improvements, cost savings, and reduced socio-economic impact.
The objectives involve understanding obesity causes, developing user-centred interventions, optimizing strategies, and disseminating solutions. HealthyW8 strives to promote healthier lifestyles, decrease obesity prevalence, and lower healthcare costs through personalized interventions and improved health literacy. The project incorporates innovative approaches to tackle obesity. It includes a novel bio-marker assessment approach, multi-component eHealth interventions, integration of personal mood/psychological aspects, and the use of nudging and gamification features with the support of the Human Learning and Recommendation System (HLRS) and Human Digital Twin (HDT). By incorporating these elements, HealthyW8 surpasses the current state-of-the-art in obesity prevention and offers innovative solutions to address this global health concern.
